Evacuation Officer

§ 44a. (1) If a fire protection officer has not been appointed or a company fire department has not been set up on the basis of provincial legislation, nor has a voluntary company fire department been set up in accordance with the guidelines of the provincial fire department associations, nor is a fire protection officer, a fire protection warden or a fire protection group required under this Ordinance, it shall be ensured that the persons appointed in accordance with Section 25 (4) ASchG are familiar with the handling of the means of first aid in extinguishing fires and are able to make the following arrangements:

1. In case of fire, alert the fire department if necessary,
2. in the event of an alarm, to check, as instructed by the employer, that all employees have left the workplace,
3. to use the means of first aid in extinguishing fires, insofar as this is absolutely necessary to ensure the escape of workers.

ASchG § 25. (4) Employers shall appoint persons responsible for firefighting and evacuation of employees. A sufficient number of employees shall be familiar with the handling of fire extinguishing equipment.
